What exactly is an African, or an American, or European, Asian? When trying to get ones head around the concept, idea, geography and even genetics involved with ‘Being African’, in my case most anthropologist, seems to me, are a little stumped… if arguably East Africa (Afar Triangle) or Southern Africa (Cradle of Humankind), notwithstanding any contradictory arguments, is indeed where humanity originated… then are we not all African!?
At the beginning of September, inter-provincial borders opened for unhindered internal traveling around South Africa. We had been waiting to take a road trip up to Johannesburg in order to spend time with Joe’s girls (Jade 12 and Erin almost 10). We quickly set about planning a trip that would visit some old friends and make some new friends as we got away for a looong ride of almost 10,000 km (combined mileage)…

Many countries around the world have started to open up their borders again to allow traveling during the summer holidays in the northern hemisphere. South Africa is still continuing with the Corona-lockdown, but we are hoping to open up for tourism again soon. In the meantime we explore other options – and they are virtually out of this world.
